As part of our school transition program, we organise a series of school visits to provide opportunities for our new Prep children to become familiar with the school environment and school routines. We're also really keen for parents to come along and spend some time at our school, to meet other parents and the staff and ask questions as you see fit. It is an exciting time for both children and parents and we do everything possible to make the transition from pre-school to Belmont PS a smooth and happy one for all concerned.

We also run a very successful Buddies Program in which our new prep children are matched with an older “buddy' who will help them settle into school life. Our older children take this role very seriously and apply in writing to be involved in the program. The friendships developed through the Buddy Program are a key factor in the children starting school happily!

At the other end of the school, we work closely with neighbouring primary schools and our local secondary schools to ensure that the transition from primary to secondary schooling is smooth and consistent across our local area.

All Year 6 children in our area complete a “Transition Passport” that accompanies them to secondary school and take part in very successful Orientation programs in early December.
